I am certain it will go well. You are correct about my own path at State. In 2010 I was sure I would lose my clearance altogether. It's hard to speak with volume when the same air pressure is being used for pitch control.

Lately, I got a position with the census bureau, and will be using my feminine voice a lot, as we recruit people for the decennial head count. At the office, I have had to be open about my transness, as I have not legally transitioned and have to use my make name. I can only guess what it's going to be like when I meet with newcomers being onboarded for the big head count. There's not much more I can say about the census bureau, as we are sworn to preserve the secrecy of the data for our lifetimes, unless congress releases us from the oaths we took. (I'll bet that you had secrets you had to preserve after your tenure as well.)

Marianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18346866501735405647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772734720339908859.post-30299442336149021092019-12-11T23:51:17.084+02:002019-12-11T23:51:17.084+02:00Hi Marian,

I am like you in that I found prosody most difficult, and I will admit that I am still self-conscious today about falling back into old patterns. That said, I've also come to realize that my sisters in our Scotch-Irish family tend not to have much of a range in using stress and intonation.

I believe I have mastered the volume aspect for most scenarios, but spending an entire evening trying to engage in conversation for more than a few minutes at a loud venue is still taxing.Robyn Ann Jane Alice McCutcheonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05710633551468843276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772734720339908859.post-67820645995376680992019-12-04T00:36:52.613+02:002019-12-04T00:36:52.613+02:00Hi -

What were the hardest things for you to do? For me, it's getting an appropriate feminine prosody and maintaining it over an evening's worth of speaking. And do you have problems maintaining volume, especially if you need to shout in a feminine pitch?

Marian Marianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18346866501735405647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772734720339908859.post-15984228297433281832019-10-24T01:43:28.084+03:002019-10-24T01:43:28.084+03:00A chink of light in the gloom...A chink of light in the gloom...Colinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01667939789517989280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772734720339908859.post-1159843267700888802019-10-11T18:23:24.181+03:002019-10-11T18:23:24.181+03:00Thank you, Coline, and continuing best wishes to y...Thank you, Coline, and continuing best wishes to you with warm memories of our correspondence in years past.Robyn Ann Jane Alice McCutcheonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05710633551468843276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772734720339908859.post-58485562446335354512019-08-03T20:49:10.882+03:002019-08-03T20:49:10.882+03:00Congratulations on surviving possibly the worst ti...Congratulations on surviving possibly the worst time ever to be a government employee! I was going to be "indisposed" and was going to be unable to edit my account before this public display of every click was to be turned on. I had been reluctant to join, having read the conditions!, and found that the bloggers who had moved their output there were just not providing anything like the interaction that they had as bloggers.

Friend requests were always answered with a request as to how they found me and why they wanted to be my friend. That kept my list far below the "Duncan number" of 150 which is the ideal size of friend circle and size of villages for many hundreds of years. I skipped the deactivate button and searched for the kill button instead, fearing that I might not find it easily again since it was well hidden, I taped it and entered a state of bliss.
